He played on “Dallas” from 1985 to 1987.

Dirk Rambo was killed in a traffic accident in 1967.

.

I was standing right there and nobody said anything about me going to lunch. It was just very clear to me I wasn't going to be part of the family. Rambo described himself as bisexual.

The actor began his television career playing opposite his twin brother, Dirk , on the “The New Loretta Young Show,” (1962-63).

He was 53.

Rambo died shortly after arriving at Delano Regional Medical Center at 4:22 p.m., said hospital spokeswoman Irma Sanchez. However, Dack was indignant and alleged:

“People say Larry is a non-homophobic person, and that he may be but he's not my kind of person, and I wasn't his and that was that.

She refused to give further details or provide his cause of death.

In 1991, Rambo quit his role as Congressman Grant Harrison in NBC’s “Another World” after saying he was infected with the AIDS virus. Dack Rambo dead at 53

Dack Rambo, who had roles on television’s “Dallas,” and “Another World” until he quit acting after disclosing he’d tested positive for the AIDS virus, died Monday.

He said going public with his condition was “like freedom to me.”

He complained about industry prejudice against gay men and said the role he took in 1985 as Jack Ewing on the primetime drama “Dallas” began to shrink because he was single and suspected of being gay. I was on the set with Larry and Patrick Duffy and Steve Kanaly.

He was 52 years old.

In 1985, Dack discussed his experience on the set of TV soap Dallas when he played J.R. Ewing's cousin Jack for 2 years.

Dack said he had been "discreet" about his sexuality but he believed the cast found out and that as a result Larry Hagman ostracized him.

Dallas insiders at the time reportedly said that it was "common knowledge" that Dack was gay but they also denied Hagman ostracized him.

Dack's noticeable difference was a mole on his left cheek. I thought, 'Gee, this just doesn't feel real good.' That was to me an indication of what it was going to be like from that point on."

Dack also alleged his role on Dallas was eventually scrapped so that Priscilla Presley, who played the character Jenna Wade, would not have to endure any scripted love scenes with him.

In 1991, while starring on the TV soap Another World, Dack discovered that he was HIV positive.

A stunned Dack ventured on, however, and eventually found a secure place for his dark good looks in 70s and 80s glossy drama and secondary action. Later in his career, he worked up a few action leads in low-budget filming. He also appeared on “The Guns of Will Sonnett” (1967-69), “Dirty Sally” (1974), “Sword of Justice” (1978-79) and “Paper Dolls” (1984).

They all went to lunch. He quit the series and acting shortly afterwards and retired from public life. I didn't really fit into the mold of what he considered male or macho. Both happened upon an acting career, at age 21, after being discovered by Loretta Young for her TV show, while sitting in a church pew. While Dirk found success on episodic-TV (The Virginian (1962), Dragnet 1967 (1967)), Dack went on to a couple of other TV series, including Never Too Young (1965) and The Guns of Will Sonnett (1967).
