'I’m alien. I'm an alien': Roseanne Barr confirms she is part of the LGBTQ community while lashing out at use of the word 'f*g' in impassioned video

Disgraced TV legend Roseanne Barr has announced she is queer while hitting out at the use of the word 'f*g'.

In an impassioned YouTube video seen by Fox News, the star reportedly spoke to her followers about the use of the 'hateful' word before slipping in: 'Because I am queer as two motherf--kers.

'I'm queer. And not only does Roseanne blame Sara for the cancellation, but she also says she 'destroyed her life'. Who's using it and why?"

From there, she takes a sharp turn into her preparations for the end of the world ("Armageddon's headin' in")  – quoting Malcolm X about the need to feed our own communities.

Not only does she question her idea of allyship, but her own relationship with sexual intimacy. Okay, I get your rules.'... The installment sees Roseanne (Roseanne Barr) and Jackie (Laurie Metcalf) off on another adventure, this time heading to a gay bar. They make no sense. I’m queer. Indeed, the fears surrounding the episode can be relegated to bigotry, and, even more than 30 years after it aired, it remains a special moment in television history.

Okay. I’m alien'.

She said: 'Man, the word f*g is a really hateful word, isn’t it?

'Get rid of it being spoken. Despite calls for the episode not to air, and the financial risk that came with it, the episode was a massive hit and remains an integral part of TV history. because they've repackaged it as 'the gay kiss show,' and it was a gay kiss, but to me, that was a show about homophobia," Roseanne said.

Airing a same-sex kiss on primetime television was controversial in the '90s, and Roseaane said ABC initially "threatened to cancel it and everything." Eventually the network did broadcast the episode with a parental advisory warning, and The Los Angeles Times reported in 1994 that 75 percent of the viewer calls to ABC headquarters "expressed a favorable reaction."

Roseanne told HuffPost Live the controversy didn't rattle her because she had a purpose behind the storyline.

"My brother and sister are both gay.

She will never get enough until she consumes my liver with a fine Chianti.'

Heart of her woes: Sara , 44, tweeted her outrage after the comedian tweeted racist remarks about former Obama administration adviser Jarrett (pictured earlier this month)

Happier times: Roseanne's eponymous character, which she played for 30 years, was killed off with an opioid overdose in the first episode of spin-off, The Connors last year (pictured with her co-star John Goodman who played Dan Conner)

Sara, one of the first to condemn the message about Jarrett, has said she 'will always love Roseanne', calling her 'family'.

She said: 'While I'm extremely disappointed and heartbroken over the dissolution of the original show, she will always be family, and I will always love Roseanne.'

MailOnline has contacted Roseanne's representative for comment.

Okay, I just can’t say the word. Whoo! But it is a hateful word and you should get rid of it."

Barr then appears to conflate the terms queer and misfit.

Not only was it groundbreaking to show a same-sex kiss on network television, but the implications and actions that followed were powerful and were qualities that were not lost on the network or its sponsors.

'Roseanne's Groundbreaking Episode Caused Controversy

While shows like Friends and Ellen would take on their own queer stories in the years that followed “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” (to varying degrees of success), Roseanne’s outing was a first of its kind, and, as such, caused intense backlash.
