He got bumped up to a series regular in season three, which—let’s be real—was totally deserved. Watson has a great bond with Maddie. To mark the occasion, Spears posted a throwback slideshow on Instagram and jokingly captioned it, “10 years of marriage is something to proud of……like, that’s a long time to tolerate someone’s bs. He found his own way—singing, dancing, and yes, even pretending to be a Power Ranger.

This guy has been absolutely killing it on Netflix’s Sweet Magnolias, and his journey to stardom is just as exciting as the show itself.

Chris grew up in the mountains of East Tennessee, where there weren’t a ton of artistic outlets. But did that stop him?

The Netflix romantic drama takes place in the fictional town of Serenity, South Carolina, and tells the stories of townspeople whose lives are intertwined in one way or the other.

Isaac is introduced in season 1 as a chef at Dana Sue’s restaurant, Sullivan's. His parentage is integral to the plot in all four seasons as the boy moves to Serenity to find his biological parents.

However, his love life never comes to the forefront, until season 4, when he finally meets Michael, and sparks fly between the two.

She returned to TV in 2020 as Noreen Fitzgibbons.

Her husband, Jamie Watson,  didn’t even know who his wife was when they first met. Whether he’s on Broadway, Netflix, or dancing, he’s proving time and time again that he’s one to watch. And with Sweet Magnolias teasing even more for Isaac, I cannot wait to see what’s next!

Bottom line: Chris Medlin is out here making moves, telling important stories, and being ridiculously talented while doing it. Nope. And if you didn’t catch Diana when it hit Netflix in 2021, go fix that ASAP.

Like, really dance. Showrunner Sheryl J. Anderson told Deadline,

“He wasn’t interested in dating until he was comfortable with who he was in Serenity… I look forward to the chance and the hope of being able to ponder what happens next.” So yeah, we’re definitely getting more Isaac, and I am so here for it.

Before becoming a Netflix fave, Chris was lighting up Broadway in Mean Girls the Musical and Diana, where he originated the role of Graham.

And that energy? Anderson added:

“Now that everybody — well, anybody who’s interested, but everybody who matters to him — understands his whole story, he was comfortable, and he was open, and a man from his past walked in the door.”

Isaac moved to Serenity from Ohio, where he used to live with his adoptive parents, to search for his biological mom and dad.

After stumbling upon each other multiple times, Isaac and Michael fall for each other and decide to go out on a date.

Anderson was also asked if the romance will blossom in the potential season 5 of Sweet Magnolias. In season 4, after Bill’s death, his mother exposes the secret to everyone. In the 2016 TLC special, Jamie Lynn Spears: When the Lights GoOut, he remarked, “I knew I wanted to marry [Spears] when basically I had fallen in love with Maddie just as much as her,” he said.

The hustle started early too—when he was in third grade, he literally walked himself back to school just to audition for the choir.
